Well, we are all a bit bleary-eyed and drowsy this morning, but our first reaction to the election result was relatively good, once we had gotten over the shock. What next? Who knows, we are in unchartered territory, but a hung parliament need not spell disaster, for either the economy or for Brexit. Whichever government we end up with, it will have difficulty getting anything through a hung parliament, and neither party is likely to get anywhere with the more extreme parts of their manifestos. However, the economy has a history of doing well in such circumstances. Brexit is a different issue, but this result has increased the probability for a soft Brexit, which is arguably better for the economy in the short term, at the very least.
Now, this might just be the slightly delirious rambling of a sleep-deprived recruiter, but we do have a cautiously optimistic atmosphere at Fram HQ this morning.
