Fram has a very successful asset management Sales (or distribution as it’s often called) Practice, and our Consultants have circa 25 years’ experience in this field. Whilst experienced industry professionals know all about the role, less experienced candidates often ask us what it entails.

In short, asset management sales professionals play a crucial role in helping clients achieve their financial goals by connecting them with investment products and services. They are responsible for identifying, developing, and maintaining relationships with potential clients, as well as promoting the firm's investment products and services to a variety of customers. However, they also have a dual role, which has huge importance placed on it – they are responsible for growing AuM. Assets Under Management or AuM are so important as firms derive their revenue from this figure, charging a percentage to manage the assets. Asset management sales professionals work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, where they must keep up with the latest market trends and investment strategies. They must be able to articulate the features and benefits of their firm's investment products, as well as understand their clients' investment goals and risk tolerance. They must also understand the nuances of the channels they work in and the territories they cover, as all are very specialised.

One of the key responsibilities of asset management sales professionals is to help clients make informed investment decisions by providing them with market insights and performance reports. They must be able to present complex investment concepts in an easily understandable manner, and answer any questions clients may have about the products or services being offered. Asset management sales professionals are also responsible for ensuring that their clients receive exceptional customer service. This includes addressing any concerns or questions that clients may have, and making sure that their investment portfolios are well-diversified and properly managed.

In order to be successful in this role, asset management sales professionals must have strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a deep understanding of financial markets and investment products. They must also be knowledgeable about regulatory compliance and industry standards, and stay up-to-date on the latest trends and developments in the asset management industry.

Asset management sales professionals play a vital role in connecting clients with investment products and services, and helping them achieve their financial goals. They are essential to their firm’s growth. With a combination of market knowledge, customer service, and communication skills, they are able to build strong relationships with clients and grow their business.
